Natalie Bomber is our Volunteer of the Week!
Natalie Bomber is a volunteer at Bethesda Thrift Store, and has done so for over a year. Bethesda is a nonprofit organization that helps those with development & intellectual needs. The profits they make help with the costs that insurance does not cover so individuals can lead a full and meaningful life. While at Bethesda, Natalie prices donated items and puts them on the floor to be sold. Natalie also helps pull items off the shelves to keep the store fresh with room for new things. She also does some daily housekeeping tasks, such as taking out the recyclables and the garbage. Natalie started out quiet and unsure, but she is now confident in her tasks and engages all others around her. Working with Natalie, who is a special needs volunteer, has helped realize the mission in a real everyday way.
Natalie inspires those around her at Bethesda, by giving them perspective for their own lives and challenges. She reminds them of the value of patience and the value of seeing everyone for their strengths. Natalie embodies volunteerism by continuing to put in her efforts with Bethesda when she has the option to be other places, doing other things.
Thank you, Natalie, for setting an example of what a positive, productive experience that volunteering at Bethesda can be!

Sexual Assault Center of Family Services
is looking for individuals to
join their volunteer and intern team!

Our new training program prepares advocates and is more flexible for those with busy schedules. Self-paced learning modules combined with on-site training and shadowing experiences prepare advocates for this work. Advocates play an important role in victims’ healing process as they not only field incoming hotline calls through hotline, but also respond to hospitals or police stations. Interns provide additional support and legal advocacy. To inquire, email
