The Bay Port High School Summer Gym Program are our Volunteers of the Week!
The Breast Cancer Family Foundation hosts an annual bike tour called Titletown Bike Tour. With cycling being a focus of summer gym at Bay Port High School, students are encouraged to volunteer at Titletown Bike Tour for setup and on event days as part of their summer programming and in place of "make up hours" should they need them. Proceeds that are raised at the event are helping to support cancer awareness and prevention education in local schools. Bay Port High School is one of those schools where the Breast Cancer Family Foundation shares their mission in the classroom making Titletown Bike Tour a full circle partnership! The students give to the foundation via volunteer hours and the foundation gives back to the high school students through cancer education in their classroom.
Students of the summer gym program take on a variety of roles and responsibilities leading up to and on race day. Some of these roles include: marking the course, placing signs for both sponsors and logistics, loading the truck, water stops, handing out towels to riders as they return, course directions, helping with registration, fundraising, and the merchandising booth. The Breast Cancer Family Foundation has even found that students who volunteer for Titletown Bike Tour continue to volunteer years after they have completed their class. Volunteering for this event becomes a tradition in their lives.
With many opportunities to volunteer in our community, it is important to find something you can connect with. With cycling being a large part of their summer course and the Breast Family Foundation being a part of their health education during the school year, it is a natural fit for them to be involved with the Titletown Bike Tour. To add to the partnership between the students and the Bike Tour, part of the Titletown Bike Tour course goes through the parking lot of their school. Their involvement with the event helps bring not only the mission of healthy living to life, but encourages and inspires others in their school to follow suit.
Thank you, Bay Port High School Summer Gym Program, for supporting cancer awareness and education programming for our youth!

Sex Trafficking Awareness Concert
Featuring Remedy Drive
|
|
Saturday, October 27th
Remedy Drive will be performing at 7:30 pm
Cup O' Joy
232 S Broadway, Green Bay, WI 54303
Remedy Drive is partnered with an abolitionist group called The Exodus Road. David Zach, the lead singer, volunteers as an undercover operative and has been on 9 deployments with The Exodus Road. When the band is not on tour, David will head over to Southeast Asia or Latin America to join the counter-trafficking organization doing casework inside of brothels and red-light districts to find evidence of sex trafficking.
As important as those efforts overseas are, we know that sex trafficking is also a serious problem in Northeastern Wisconsin. In partnership with Cup O Joy and 2 Rise Above, Remedy Drive will be performing and co-speaking with the Sexual Assault Center about the significant efforts needed to combat trafficking and other forms of sexual violence in our area.
Join the Sexual Assault Center for a night of awareness for victims and survivors of sex trafficking in Northeastern Wisconsin.
