R-PAWS Rehabilitation Program at the Wildlife Sanctuary was founded in 1985 to meet the needs of the community reaching out for someone to help save orphaned & injured wildlife they encountered in their daily lives. The public feel a connection to every animal they bring to R-PAWS and trust the volunteers with give the animal the best possible care. Each animal that is brought into the program is given a second chance to be the wild creature they were born to be.

Volunteers trained and licensed through the Wildlife Sanctuary take part in hours of training in order to learn how to care for Wisconsin native wildlife in their homes. The program accepts all species of animals of Wisconsin wildlife, from songbirds to eagles and bunnies to bears. The duties include working directly with wildlife as an animal caretaker, emergency medical technician, housing specialist, nutritionist and capture and transport specialist. Volunteers strive to achieve high standards of animal care through knowledge and understanding of the field. In a single season, volunteers give 20,000 hours of their time to provide proper nutrition, housing and care to these orphans until they can be wild again.

Thank you, R-PAWS volunteers, for your commitment to these animals!
