myTEAM TRIUMPH Angel Athletes  are the volunteers of the week as well as our WPS Volunteer Awards Large Group Runner Up! myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin Chapter is an athletic mentoring program that pairs individuals with disabilities (called "Captains") with able-bodied athletes (called "Angels") to compete in road races and triathlons. Angles serve as the legs and lungs of their Captains!

In 2015, more than 700 people in northeast Wisconsin volunteered to serve as Angel Athletes, with many participating in more than one race. Per the mission of myTEAM TRIUMPH, the time that they give does not simply encompass race day, but also time spent getting to know their Captains and preparing their bodies, minds, and spirits to enable their Captains to cross the finish line.

myTEAM TRIUMPH works to provide an inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities to participate in endurance athletics. Without Angel Athletes willing to volunteer to push and pull Captains during races, myTEAM TRIUMPH would not be able to exist. Volunteers truly are at the heart of their mission, and without them their needs would not be met. When the Angels volunteer, it is a selfless act meant to recognize the true humanity in others, and in ourselves. Through they may go into it thinking that they are going to help those in need, whatever that need may be, they often come out the other side having been transformed themselves.

Many of the Angels comment that myTEAM has changed their lives for the better. Though they were runners before, they are now running for a different reason. When they train for races with myTEAM, training takes on an entirely different meaning. They work a little harder, and run a little longer, because the race is not about them or for them, but it is for their Captain. This is HIS or HER race and the Angels have the ability to help their Captains do something that they never thought they could do.

Thank you myTEAM TRIUMPH Angel Athletes for your dedication in getting your Captains over the finish line!
