Kathy Hartman is our Volunteer of the Week!
Green Bay Botanical Garden provides a community resource that serves the horticultural, recreational, social and educational needs in our community. Kathy has served the Garden as a member and volunteer since 1995. As such, in that capacity, she's led the organization as a board member for over 12 years, including chairing the board for two years and chairing the highly successful 2016 Perennial Performance Capital Campaign to build the Grand Garden and Amphitheater at the Garden. She currently serves as board member and chair of the Garden's Fund Development Committee. Her high energy and amount of time she contributed has led to a more sustainable organization as well as exceeding the goal of fundraising for the 2016 campaign. Her leadership is also helping to develop the Perennial Legal Society, to ensure future sustainability.
As a member and volunteer for over two decades, Kathy has been involved with the organization since before the Garden opened its doors to the public. As a board member, former board chair, member of multiple committees and chair, Kathy has spent over 1,000 hours, with regular attendance throughout the year serving the Garden. Kathy's leadership has led to greater financial security for the Garden, ensuring that the programming remains fresh, innovative, is collaborative and reaches people throughout the community. Under her leadership, new programs emerged that enabled the Garden to offer many free event dates to members of our community, especially to those who might not otherwise be able to participate.
Kathy's inspiring leadership was most evident during the Perennial Performance Campaign. She worked with a cabinet of 12 people to successfully exceed the goal and raise over $5.2 million to build the Grand Garden and Amphitheater at the Green Bay Botanical Garden. She personally participated in grant writing and appeared before a number of foundation boards to help achieve this goal. She engaged others in the community to help brand the campaign and made sure the messaging utilized by the campaign cabinet was consistent and clear. As a key leader of the organization, Kathy inspires those around her at the Garden.
Thank you, Kathy, for being an active advocate for best practices in fundraising and non-profit management and for being an active advocate of the Garden!
