volunteeroftheweek Volunteer of the Week
Gage Beck is our volunteer of the week!

Gage's involvement is with the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity-ReStore, as a ReStore volunteer. Gage has been a volunteer at the ReStore, since January of 2014. Since then, he has accumulated more than 300 hours of service to the ReStore. Although he is in high school, Gage commits to volunteering at least two Saturdays a month, during the school year. During the summer he commits to a little more time--about four times a month. He is so committed, that during the summer, he will ride his bike three miles one way (six miles round trip) to help at the store. The staff at ReStore appreciate that Gage still finds a way to volunteer on his own, even though he is too young to drive. His ongoing efforts in the last three years is valued and appreciated by ReStore staff.

On Saturdays, you will find Gage working side by side with his mom, ensuring that the register is running smoothly. In the beginning, he assisted his mom with bagging, customer service and keeping the front area clean and organized. In the last two years, however, Gage has helped with several different tasks on the sales floor. Since Gage began his volunteer work in 2014, he has helped the ReStore serve seven Habitat for Humanity partner families. This means that these adults and children have a safe home to go home to on a daily basis. Each and every time Gage volunteers he leaves a big impact on their organization so that they can continue to serve our community.

Gage's willingness to help with whatever needs to be done while he volunteers meets many of the needs for the ReStore on Saturdays. In many cases, Saturdays tend to be some of ReStores busiest sales days. On these days, Gage is the perfect go-to man to help with smaller restocking projects, organizing and other things that the staff would not normally have the time to do. Gage helps ReStore to end the week on a good note and to make sure that the store is ready for another week of business.  They always look forward to having Gage's help because they know he will get things done accurately and efficiently. Gage's work ethic, enthusiasm, generosity and reliability embodies the spirit of volunteerism. He is an excellent example for other students his age.

Thank you Gage for helping to eliminate substandard housing in Brown County!
