Volunteer of the Week
Patrick Jones is our Volunteer of the Week!

The need for decent affordable housing in Green Bay continues to be an urgent need for families otherwise living in substandard housing. Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity ReStore provides funding for Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity through their intake and sales of donated items, such as new and gently used building materials, gently used furnishings, flooring and most anything else that has to do with home improvement. In 2016, ReStore was able to fund 2 Habitat for Humanity homes in Brown County through the sales of their donated merchandise. Like Habitat for Humanity, the ReStore relies heavily on their volunteers to help with day to day operations from cashiering, helping with donation intake, cleaning and placing items on shelves and general cleaning of the store. Patrick plays a big role in this area as he has put in over 300 hours since he started volunteering in 2014.

Patrick volunteers alongside with his dad and the duo take care of donations that are dropped off by community members or donations that come off their truck after a residential or business pick up. This includes cleaning and pricing the donations, getting them ready to be placed on the shelves for sale and then actually helping find the space in the ReStore for the items he priced. He also assists with deconstruction on items that are not able to be resold which includes taking hardware off of doors and putting them in the proper recycle bins, which is one of Patrick's favorite jobs, because he gets to use a power drill! Patrick is very compliant and will do any task that is asked of him with a smile on his face, ALWAYS!

Patrick embodies the spirit of volunteerism through his ability to work independently, learn new skills, his work ethic, his sense of pride when a task is accomplished, his happy nature and outgoing spirit, and kindness he exemplifies to everyone he meets.

Thank you, Patrick, for making a difference in our community!
