WPS Awards - April 27

The always-inspiring WPS Volunteer Awards breakfast event will be held at the Lambeau Field Atrium on Thursday, April 27.

Brought to you by the Volunteer Center of Brown County and Wisconsin Public Service, as well as our nine generous award sponsors, this annual gathering honors the contributions of volunteers and nonprofit organizations to our community. It is a powerful way to recognize the impact so many outstanding volunteers have had, and it creates more awareness in our community about organizations where volunteers give their time.

A recording of the event will be available on our YouTube and Facebook pages in early May, so keep an eye out for that!

Volunteers of the Week

Habitat's Office Assistants are our volunteers of the week!

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Karen Boehm has volunteered in Habitat’s office since May of 2014, and Gayle Spears and Debra Bell have done so for the past 16 years. They have been tasked with everything from manning the front desk to answering phones to maintaining homeowners’ files. Staff members say they are truly great assets to the organization and always come with a willingness to assist in whatever is asked of them. All three of these ladies are great examples of individuals who inspire those around them and have volunteered over 7,000 hours for Habitat.

Karen, Deb, and Gayle assist with the behind-the-scenes tasks that need to be done, allowing paid staff to work on other parts of Habitat’s mission of providing people a decent and affordable place to live, which in turn helps place these people on a path of new opportunity, increased confidence, and self-reliance. The ladies know that housing instability creates stress and hopelessness for many families and are rewarded by seeing firsthand the impacts home ownership has on the families who go through the process. Karen, Deb, and Gayle also know that owning a home will mean these families have a chance to create savings, invest in education, and raise children in a healthy environment. Habitat feels blessed to have these ladies as part of their team, and we thank them for all they do!
