WPS Volunteer Award Nominations Are Now Open!

Consider what our community would be like without the efforts of volunteers.

The Volunteer Leadership Award category, which is sponsored by Schneider National Foundation, would be for any individual who demonstrates community impact through a leadership role. This award is often given to a person who is a current or past member of committees, task forces or boards of directors.

Please take the time to honor the enormous impact that volunteers make in our community by nominating an individual or group for one of the WPS Volunteer Awards. The Volunteer Awards program is put on by the Volunteer Center of Brown County and sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service.

The deadline for nominations is March 3, 2017.

Please visit our website to learn more about the WPS awards and to view the options for nomination:

Vern Peterson has been volunteering with Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity for 7 years and has become more involved with them each year.  In the past 5 years he has held a number of different board positions such as Secretary to the VP, as well serving as their Board President for 2 consecutive years. Vern is an invaluable resource and has been a strong supporter of Habitat's mission. He is passionate about the families they work with and is committed to helping Habitat grow in the community.

Vern also serves on their Family Support and Construction Committees and has been a family advocate and mentor for a number of their partner families by helping them with the process of becoming a Habitat homeowner, which can be up to a one year commitment. It is because of Vern's leadership and vision for our organization as Board President that they have been so successful over the last several years and that Habitat has been able to help more families to achieve their dream of home ownership. Vern has also found time to volunteer on Habitat's build sites as well as at Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Vern has provided structure and leadership through his role on the Board of Directors. He has helped give Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity vision which enables them to further their mission and serve more families. Vern is constantly promoting Habitat's vision, he lives Habitat's mission and he is a friend to Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity for life!

Habitat for Humanity would like to thank you for your dedication and commitment to their organization.
