Michelle Bork is our Volunteer of the Week!
Michelle Bork has been a volunteer of Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary (HEA) since 2006. At the time Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary, Inc. was founded, many communities across the country were killing 50% of the companion animals that came into the care of their shelters. The Green Bay community was no exception. Michelle has played an important role in changing that within our community along with now identifying and implementing the tools that make it possible for HEA to broaden its reach significantly.
Michelle has contributed to HEA's growth and impact in numerous ways. The most significant of which has come since December of 2015 when she accepted the monumental task of identifying, on-boarding, and administering two robust software platforms that allow HEA's business operations to function at a high level. Within the last year, Michelle has been asked to participate in board-level strategic discussions. Michelle's resume reads like this: board member during HEA's early years, led many volunteer introduction and orientation sessions, assisted at satellite Pet Smart adoption centers and national pet adoption events for countless weekends before HEA had an adoption center of its own, has volunteered one Saturday per month since 2010, and much more! Additionally, Michelle has helped with numerous special events.
One of the pieces of software that Michelle has brought on board is a shelter management platform. In its first year of use, HEA's adoptions increased by more than 40%. This platform integrates directly with HEA's website and various 3rd party sites allowing pets to be viewed by thousands of people each day from anywhere in the world. Since the introduction of this platform, HEA has conducted adoptions in more than 60 communities in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. This project along with Michelle's work with a donor management platform has significantly improved HEA's processes around adoption application, adoption follow up, animal record keeping, constituent management, donor development, and gift acknowledgement to name a few. Michelle willingly searches for the next thing to be done and provides written goals and objectives relating to her volunteer responsibilities without being asked to do so.
Thank you, Michelle, for taking Happily Ever After to new heights!
