Sandi Van Sistine is the founder of the ARTgarage. The ARTgarage's doors opened 10 years ago, and has been growing under Sandi's guidance ever since. It began as a place where artists could come together, work collectively and exhibit to the public. However, once the doors were opened, she also began listening to what the community wanted and needed to have in regard to the arts and has worked hard to make these ideas happen. ARTgarage is now a full service community art center visited by thousands of people each year. Community members find inspiration and have a venue to become artists themselves.
Sandi's vision for the ARTgarage is to have a place where all people can be served, from children to seniors, of all backgrounds. When funds were running low and the ARTgarage considered having to charge an admission fee for the gallery, Sandi held a fundraiser. When the performing arts program - also free to the public - was struggling, Sandi found sponsors so that expenses were covered, including better pay for artists.
Thank you, Sandi, for all of the time and energy you have put into the ARTgarage to bring art to our community!
