Exceptional Equestrians Volunteers are our Volunteers of the Week!
Exceptional Equestrians volunteers help children and adults with disabilities to receive horseback therapies by assisting during hippotherapy and therapeutic riding as horse leaders and as side walkers. Horse leaders groom and tack the therapy horses and lead the horse while the client rides. Side walkers walk alongside the rider for safety and assist the rider during activities. Horse leader volunteers also clean and tack horses and help in the stable. Exceptional Equestrians volunteers pitch in wherever help is needed. And in the barn, that often means picking up manure and sweeping floors. Their volunteer service enables inspiring work and glorious successes.
Exceptional Equestrians volunteers serve weekly shifts of two to five hours. Everyone serves at least one shift a week, some help out three days a week, and most serve year round. Each volunteer serves a minimum of 15 hours, and the top volunteer has donated 800 hours. In 2016, 200 volunteers logged 3,900 hours of service.
Because of their commitment and dedication, Exceptional Equestrians volunteers have made it possible for kids and adults with disabilities in Northeast Wisconsin to get hippotherapy services, which has a lifetime impact on their cognitive, physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Their service has made a world of difference for hundreds of individuals and their families. Without this group of volunteers, families in our community would not have access to hippotherapy.
Thank you, Exceptional Equestrians volunteers, for helping to provide much- needed hippotherapy to many individuals in our community!

Join the Movement: Become an Advocate with the Sexual Assault Center!
|
Are you looking for a way to stand with those survivors and make a lasting impact on our community? The Sexual Assault Center that serves Brown, Oconto, Door, & Marinette Counties, is looking for individuals to join their volunteer team! No experience is necessary. All advocates receive extensive training prior to working with victims of Sexual Violence. Our new training program prepares advocates and is more flexible for those with busy schedules. Self-paced learning modules combined with on-site training and shadowing experiences prepare advocates for this work. Advocates play an important role in victims’ healing process as they not only field incoming hotline calls through hotline, but also respond to hospitals or police stations to provide immediate support and information. Interns provide additional support and legal advocacy. Volunteers sign up for two shifts each month that work with their schedule and attend monthly meetings with other advocates, to maintain protocols and expand knowledge.
Available shifts:
Weekday Nights: 5pm-7am
Weekend Days: 7am-7pm
Weekend Nights: 7pm-7am
Next on-site training dates in May!
Apply today to reserve your spot and start the process of becoming a volunteer victim advocate!
