Exciting developments are happening here at the Volunteer Hub to bring more exposure--and more importantly, more volunteers--to your organization. Starting in the next few weeks, people interested in opportunities to volunteer specifically to help address homelessness will be able to do so through the Volunteer Hub.

We know much of the work you do affects, or is affected by, the issue of homelessness, even if it's just one aspect of your mission. We aim to connect every piece of this complex puzzle by highlighting the innovative and thoughtful work you already do.

Connecting Point has partnered with the County of Nevada to bring a renewed focus to the Better Together initiative. Better Together Nevada County aims to address the issue of homelessness with the community in a positive and collaborative way. This will be an effective way to inspire the volunteer community to engage with your organizations and each other.

*Your participation is the key to making this happen.*

Please  opt-in to the Better Together campaign. Once you do, we will include any and all of your relevant volunteer opportunities on our new  Better Together page within the Volunteer Hub. The County of Nevada will be launching this campaign soon, so climb aboard! If you're unsure of how your organization would fit into this campaign, our volunteer liaison, Susan, would be happy to follow up and help you find a place under our Better Together umbrella.

If you would like more information on the Better Together campaign, please feel free to contact County of Nevada Director of Housing & Child Support Services, Mike Dent, by phone at 530-265-1410 or by email. For more information about Connecting Point or the Volunteer Hub, please contact  Heather Heckler.

We look forward to partnering with you in this important work.

Call For Submissions

We have started collecting your submissions for our alternating features; "Know Your Nonprofit," a profile piece on a specific partner organizations, and " Volunteer Q&A," an interview with specific volunteers about their experiences after connecting with an opportunity.

Thank you for your enthusiastic response so far. We need a few more submissions before we can start sharing them with The Union.

If you are interested in spotlighting your organization or a specific volunteer, all you need to do is complete a simple form (see links below).  If you have any questions, please email Brett Shady or call 530-274-5601.
