We Love Our Volunteers!
We've said it before, and we'll say it again, we love our volunteers! The nonprofit community truly couldn't do what we do with out your support. So thank you for giving your time and talent to help make Lake County a better place for all!
We know the world is still upside down right now, but we're hopeful that things will start returning to normal soon. In the meantime, please continue to stay safe, and stay tuned for ways you can volunteer throughout the year. In the mean time, here are a few Valentine's Day inspired ideas for little ways you can show some love to your favorite nonprofits and the community.
Make Valentine's Day cards for nonprofit staff. Nonprofit staff have been working even harder since the start of this pandemic to help our communities stay afloat. Show your favorite nonprofit's staff some love by sending them individual Valentines, or a card for the entire office.
Help shovel snow. Hopefully the snow will pass us by this year, but if not offer to shovel snow for your elderly or disabled neighbors. This is a great project for kids and even for groups (as long as you stay six feet apart).
Find some puppy love. If you've been thinking about getting a furry companion, check out your local animal shelter and consider adopting or fostering an animal.
Skip the chocolate, and make a donation instead. Instead of a fancy dinner, flowers, or candies, take the money you would have spent and make a donation to your favorite charity instead.
Get your heart pumping. Many walks/run have gone virtual since the start of the pandemic. Just hop online and search for virtual races that benefit organizations you care about, then complete the walk/run around your own neighborhood (or on your treadmill). It's a great way to get some exercise and help a good cause at the same time.
Help Support The COVID-19 Vaccination Process
There are a number of ways you can help with the vaccine rollout. You can encourage those in your communities and your networks to get vaccinated when they are able to. You can also follow the Lake County Health Department or the CDC on social media and share their information regarding the vaccine to help educate your friends and family and combat misinformation.
Check out the information below to learn more about what the Health Department is looking for in terms of volunteers and paid staff to help actually administer the vaccine. To apply to volunteer or for a paid position please email [email protected]. To view the actual PDF simply click on the image below.
