MDS Canada is calling for volunteers to assist with clean up in Nova Scotia after Hurricane Fiona! We are asking volunteers to commit to a week at a time. The skills sets needed are listed below.
Experienced Chainsaw Operators
We are working with trees that are up to 4 feet in diameter and require skill to safely clean up. We are looking for up to 15 volunteers per week. We need both chainsaw operators and those who can do the hard work of moving cut up trees. We are looking for volunteers who are able to serve for a week or more starting as soon as possible.
Roofing Crews
We have several roofs that need to be repaired or replaced to prevent more water damage and the resulting problems. We are looking for several crews to serve for a week or more starting as soon as possible.
Accommodations and meals will be provided. Volunteers need to bring their own bedding. Some travel reimbursement is available; please contact the office for more information.
MDS is working primarily in the Cape Breton area, for volunteers who are looking to fly in the closest airport would be Sydney, NS.
If you are interested or available please contact Clara Flores at cflores@mds.org or by calling 204-261-1274.
