GIVING TUESDAY
GivingTuesday reports total giving increased from $1.97 billion to $2.47 billion (yes, BILLION!) in the United States alone, representing a 25% increase compared to GivingTuesday 2019. Here at SVdP, in our first year participating, we received $1,590.00 in donations through Facebook and additional donations were made via our website and mailed checks. Thank you to all who recently signed up to volunteer your time or contributed to this fund!

Fond words from Father Nash

Food Pantry volunteers and others gathered recently to present Kathy Weaver with a special photography book created by Stephanie Handy and signed by the many who have worked with her over the years. She has been an extraordinary presence in the SVdP Food Pantry and we wish to show the love and respect we all have for her!

Bring Out Your Inner Rembrandt; Or Just Bring Us the Rembrandt!!
|
We are seeking original art pieces (paintings, photographs, sculptures, pottery, jewelry and more) for an upcoming Art and Craft Sale. Whether it's something you've created, or a gently used piece you no longer have the room for, we'd love to see it (and sell it!) for the benefit of the SVdP Food Pantry.
Contact [email protected] if you have something you'd like to donate or if you would like to help with this fun event!

Despite the challenges this year because of COVID-19, the Angel Tree program was able to provide gift cards to 8 social agencies, which distributed them to almost 750 children, disabled adults, and seniors in need in Talbot County. Thanks to the unbelievable generosity of our donors, many people had a brighter Christmas.
SVdP especially wants to thank Shore United Bank for helping us help people by waiving the credit card fees on the gift cards we requested.
And we SO appreciate Debbie Molchan, for again leading this effort under very difficult circumstances this year.

We will miss you, Dick and Sandy Bemis!
|
Sandy and Dick Bemis were honored with a "Drive-Bye" recently to show appreciation for all the years of service and dedication they have given to SVdP. They recently sold their home and are building a home in the lovely state of Vermont, to be near family. Many of us have appreciated their friendship and support and they will both be missed.

Volunteer Spotlight - Jan Otter
|
Janice Otter is a Northern California native who moved to Talbot County in 1993. Alex Handy introduced Jan to the food pantry about ten years ago when it was on Commerce Drive. She loves volunteering at the SVdP food pantry because she has made lasting friendships and has also come to know many clients over the years. Retired from healthcare careers, Jan and her husband Tom live just outside of Oxford, where they have four dogs, two cats, chickens and two rescue ponies. They enjoy being out on the water, playing tennis, swimming or spending time with their two granddaughters. Jan always looks forward to her volunteer time at SVdP in rain, sleet, snow or blue skies, and SVdP is fortunate to count her as one of our great volunteers.
