Texas Golf Association Announcement:

O'Rear Wins Texas Mid-Amateur

Ryan O'Rear won the 37th Texas Mid-Amateur on Oct. 4 at Oak Hills Country Club after one of the most historic sudden-death playoffs in TGA history.

The 29-year-old from Leander fired a final round 5-under-par 66 (highlighted by a back-nine 30) to tie two-time champion Colby Harwell at 3-under-par 210 through 54 holes.

O'Rear and Harwell battled for the title in a seven-hole sudden-death playoff. Both players traded punches, ultimately ending with an O'Rear birdie on the par-4 17th to claim the championship.

USGA Virtual Rules School: The USGA will not be hosting "in-person" Rules Workshops in 2021. The replacement will be virtual Rules school online. TGA Foundation:

TGA Foundation Launches New Initiative in San Antonio

The Texas Golf Association Foundation is launching the Youth on Course program in the San Antonio area for 2020.

Youth on Course (YOC) gives juniors access to play golf for $5 or less at 11 courses in the San Antonio area, as well as more courses all over the country. To learn more about the program, check out the link below.

The Texas Golf Association Volunteer Program was formed in 2005 with only a handful of volunteers. Today, the program proudly hosts a roster of 250 men and women including several on USGA boards and committees.
