Reaching Out - Energy Day Colorado Festival!
On Saturday 22 September, Rocky Mountain BEST had a booth at Colorado Energy Day. We all felt the energy surrounding us on the Esplanade at East High School in Denver. FIRST had teams competing in rounds to display their robots. Joel Noble of East HS was a key organizer of the FIRST competition as well as key in getting BEST to participate in Energy Day!

Our Illuminati robot from the 2015 Pay Dirt game (dealing with mining and economics) was driven by young and old alike. The robot continues to amaze people that it was built by a middle school team - DSST Byers. Illuminati was also taken for a walk down the Esplanade to visit the other booths held by energy/STEM-related companies and educational institutions. Many of our Regional Education Sponsors were in attendance. Check out our website to see all of our current generous sponsors! We hope to continue conversations with all the people we met at the event.

CBS4 did a great job covering the event and promoting the importance of STEM education and profiling Colorado STEM students. In fact, from 27 August 27, 2018, through 20 April 2019, one student each month will be selected as a Future Leader in a STEM-based career which includes a $1,000 award and a televised interview. Since we have many qualified Colorado high school students in BEST doing amazing things, check out the website www.CBSDenver.com/FutureLeaders to nominate a student you know!!

Special thanks go to our BEST volunteers who made the day: Jose Lopez, Jay Helmreich, Hannah Rafle, Lois Walton, and Lori Lazuk.
