Engineering Notebook Judges
19 - 23 October
We need judges to judge a section of the 29 team notebooks from home. Engineering Notebooks are evaluated with a scoresheet with rubric. We provide training. A judge needs approximately 8 hours to complete the judging between 19 and 23 October.

To continue the spirit of the 2018 Current Events game to cleanup plastic, we're encouraging everyone to bring a refillable water bottle so we can avoid giving out or using plastic bottles! We plan to have a container of water with ice in the hall to refill bottles.

Successful Kickoff Thanks to VOLUNTEERS!
THANKS to ALL the volunteers that made our 2019 OFF THE GRID game competition Kickoff Event on 14 September successful! We had close to 500 in the stands. WOW!

  • Colorado School of Mines Engineering Design Department is hosting an onsite engineering design contest (winners will receive cash Gift Cards!)
  • Industry professionals will be available to speak with and instruct students about career path choices
  • Energy Day Academic Program Awards Ceremony, recognizing and celebrating students for their hard work in Denver-area STEM competitions, will begin at 1:00

  • Freebies and giveaways will abound, so come out and celebrate STEM!

Energy Day is sponsoring the inaugural Kendrick Castillo Memorial Tournament hosted by DSST Robotics - FIRST Robotics Competition FRC Team 2240 - Brute Force - founded in 2007 at DSST Stapleton High School.  This is an off-season FIRST Robotics Competition tournament, using the OFFICIAL playing field and equipment for the 2019 FRC game, Destination: Deep Space. The tournament gives High School teams in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region an opportunity to compete using their existing robots, and to reach out to the larger community of businesses and students in order to promote their teams and programs. The event has been named in honor of Kendrick Castillo, a STEM School student, who was deeply involved in Team 4418, STEM Impulse.
CBS4 STEM Future Leaders AWARD through mid-April 2020
Know a high school student thriving in STEM?
Nominate them for Future Leaders and a chance to receive a $1,000 award!
CBS4 is delighted to announce  FUTURE LEADERS  presented by Colorado School of Mines and PDC Energy, an initiative to recognize Colorado high school students who are excelling in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
Teachers, parents, mentors, and others may nominate students who they believe will be our future STEM leaders. Nominations will be accepted beginning Sept. 16, 2019 and ending April 17, 2020.

One student will be selected each month to receive this special recognition award that will include a $1,000 award along with a student profile on CBS4.  Since we have many qualified Colorado high school students in BEST doing amazing things, check out the website to nominate a student you know!!
