 Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎

Looking for a simple way to show some extra appreciation for the educators in your life? Teacher Appreciation Week—organized by the National PTA—takes place May 4–8, 2026 to honor the incredible impact teachers have on students and communities.

Whether it’s a handwritten note, a small gesture of thanks, or a shoutout on social media, there are plenty of ways to join in and show your appreciation. Check out ideas and inspiration here.

Strategic Plan

We’re currently in the process of shaping Literations’ next strategic plan—the roadmap that will guide our goals and growth in the years ahead. Our current plan, launched a few years ago, has helped drive meaningful progress, from expanding to new schools and serving more students to strengthening our systems, staffing, and volunteer support.

Over the last 4 months, Literations staff and board members as well as a cross section of volunteers and external stakeholders have engaged in surveys, team conversations, focus groups, and collaborative planning sessions to help set priorities for the future.

We’ll share more updates along the way as the plan continues to take shape!

Coaching Quick Tips

Wrapping up your sessions

Our program is winding down as we head towards June.  Start preparing your students for the end of the coaching sessions at least two to three sessions in advance.

Show the student the progress they have made. If you have a list of book titles they have read, share that with the student. Be honest about the upcoming end of your sessions together and focus on the positive experience you shared together.

Ask the student what they enjoyed most about the coaching sessions and what they learned that stands out. Avoid promising that you will see them again next year or you will keep in touch with them as this can cause uncertainty.

Share information about the participation certificate the student will receive and details about any end of program celebration your site has planned, encouraging the student to attend if they can.

Encourage the student to continue practicing their reading skills. Their reading and learning should not end when our program wraps up for the year!
