Thank You!
During this holiday season, we want to give a warm and heartfelt thank you to our dedicated and extraordinary volunteers! You've trained, you've practiced, you've learned new systems, you've adopted new programs...and through it all, you stuck with it and with us on behalf of the children of Boston. This has been another unparalleled year, with students back to school this fall, many for the first time since March 2020. Whether you're serving in-person or remotely...or if you're still awaiting your student assignments, please know that you are the lifeblood of Literations' work, and we are deeply grateful to you.
Holiday Updates
Holiday Break: Dec 23 - Jan 3
No coaching sessions will take place from 12/23-1/3, and all Literations staff will be on break from 12/23-1/2.

Coaching sessions will resume on Tuesday, Jan 4.

Holiday Gifts
While the holidays can be a time for gift-giving in many cultures, we ask that our volunteers refrain from giving gifts to their students. As an organization, we provide books throughout the year to our in-person students and have in past years provided end-of-year gift bags to all the students we serve. We have a gift-giving policy in our volunteer handbook (pg 32) you can refer to with your teams, site team leader, and program staff for discussion if your team is interested in potential gift-giving at the end of the program year.
COVID-19 Updates
Booster Policy for In-Person
For the safety of students, partners, our staff and volunteers, all Literations volunteers and staff who will be in-person during the 2021-2022 program year will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Given the recent recommendations by the CDC that all adults 18 and older receive a booster vaccination and the research that boosters are effective against variants, Literations has updated our COVID-19 vaccination policy to redefine fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to mean having received a COVID-19 booster 6 months after your second Pfizer/Moderna vaccination or your first Johnson & Johnson vaccination.

In order to continue serving in-person, you must be fully vaccinated (including a booster) by Friday, January 14, 2022.

Please complete this brief vaccination verification form by Friday, January 14th.

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics
Vaccinations are widely available. Below are some links to search for a clinic or appointment convenient for you.

In-Person Coaches Needed
We have several Boston Public Schools that have students who remain on our waiting list because we do not have enough in-person volunteers. At the same time we're also getting ready to launch our program in two Framingham elementary schools in January!

Serving students is our mission and in our DNA, and you can help -- our volunteers are our best recruiters!

Do you have a friend who may be interested in serving in-person either in Boston or in Framingham?

Please reach out directly to our recruitment team. We can fast-track any interested applicants through the process and training so they can start serving in early January.
