Literations in the News!

Some of you might have caught familiar faces on Boston's WCVB Channel 5 in their 5 For Good segment in October.

Reporter, Erika Tarantal, visited the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. K-8 School to learn all about Literations and our programming throughout Boston and Framingham.

The Channel 5 crew recorded literacy sessions in action and interviewed several members of our community. They were amazed by our program and work, and we couldn't have been more proud to share our mission in action!

Update on the HUB

The Experience Corps HUB

Volunteer Time and Session Tracking

Literation is excited to be using the EC HUB as our data collection tool for the 23-24 school year. This will be your one-stop shop for logging your session data AND timesheets! The Operations Team is currently working diligently to get all our site schedules into the system.

Site training on this new platform will occur throughout the month of November. For most sites, your HUB training will happen at your November site meeting, and a recording/slide deck will be shared later in the month.

Please continue to track your time and session data via the paper forms provided at your site.

To Do This Month

Submit Sight Word Checklist

If you have an Emergent Reader (ERP) student, please share the completed sight word checklist with your team leader or program staff. They will record the data in our system so we can celebrate your students' reading gains at year-end.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Survey

We will roll out our Student SEL Survey later this month. We are awaiting final updates to the survey from Experience Corps.

Each coach will complete a 5-question survey about each of their students at the beginning and end of the year so we can understand our students' SEL growth over the year. More to come soon!

Native American Heritage Month

Visit The Link to find lots of information for Native American Heritage Month. From events to books to maps, there are lots of resources to honor and celebrate the rich history and traditions of Native Americans.

You can also go to your local public library for read-aloud books about Native people and stories that the children's librarian recommends. Here are a few that caught our eye:
