Big Things Are Coming This Fall!

The countdown to a new school year has begun, and we can't wait! In just a couple of months we'll l be helping students build confidence and discover the joy of reading.

We're looking forward to sharing more soon about some exciting expansion plans. Soon even more students will have the chance to work one-on-one with volunteers like you!

If you have friends, family members, neighbors, or former colleagues who would make great reading coaches, now is the perfect time to invite them to learn more! Our volunteer information sessions will continue through the fall, and we'd love your help spreading the word.

If you are a returning volunteer or have completed your interview, you will soon receive an invitation to the Virtual Town Hall at 12pm on Tuesday August 11 where we'll share program updates and training information, celebrate what's ahead, and answer your questions before the school year begins.

Meanwhile, enjoy the rest of your summer—and start getting excited. We can't wait to see familiar faces return, welcome new volunteers to the team, and make this our biggest year yet!

Staffing Updates

A note from the newest addition to our staff: Iramis Bautista

I am excited to join Literations as Volunteer Recruitment Manager! Previously, I led volunteer recruitment and onboarding for a youth literacy nonprofit, where I focused on building strong volunteer pipelines. I'm thrilled to bring my background in strategic partnerships and messaging to this role. I look forward to connecting with our local community and expanding our volunteer network!

Upcoming Opportunity in Database Management

Literations is developing a new role to manage our custom-designed volunteer management system. If you have a background in enterprise wide design and management of CRM systems or databases, we’d love your guidance in supporting this hiring process. Please email the Director of HR and Operations, Leah Hoang if you are interested in lending your experience! Leah can be reached at lhoang@literations.org.

Training dates and locations will be announced later this summer, and accepted volunteers will receive instructions for registering for the sessions that best fit their schedules.

Returning Coach Training: Returning coaches complete approximately 4–5 hours of required training before the school year begins, including a 47-minute online training video and one half-day in-person training. Training dates will be announced later this summer, and returning coaches will receive registration instructions once they're available.
