Operation Gratitude Letter Writing Campaign 
In Honor of 9/11 Day of Service and Rememberance

In memory of 9/11 fallen heroes, the City of Mesa is hosting an Operation Gratitude letter writing campaign.  Between now and September 11th, you are encouraged to write a letter or card to a first responder (Fire, Police, Paramedic), deployed troop, new recruit, or Veteran.  All deserve to be thanked for their commitment and bravery!  You can get letter writing tips at

You can drop off cards or letters at the Operation Gratitude Box at 20 E Main St in the Mesa City Plaza lobby or mail to: PO Box 1466 Mesa, AZ 85211 c/o Volunteer Programs Operation Gratitude.  They should be delivered or postmarked by 9/11/19.

All Day Event

This one-day experience allows interested participants the opportunity to learn about police operations and obtain a personal view of what a day in the life of a police officer in your neighborhood is like.

Community members will participate in training, discussions, and presentations regarding Mesa Police Department policies, practices and procedures.  Community leaders are encouraged to attend!

Deadline for applications is Friday, September 6th!

Connector Volunteer Team
Mesa Fire and Medical

The Mesa Fire and Medical Department will be accepting applications for the Connector Volunteer Team.

Established in 1998, the Connector program is a fire department based, customer service focused program providing service and support internally to Mesa Fire and Medical Department and externally through service, support and education with our Community Outreach Programs.  The Connector Program requires a one-year commitment with the ability to volunteer for 15 hours per month.  Connectors respond to customer home visits and some 911 calls.

2019 Love Your City
Volunteer Recruitment Fair
Citywide Event

4:30PM - 6:00PM

Join the departments of the City of Mesa for a Volunteer Recruitment Fair! Come learn about all the different opportunities to get involved in your community by talking to representatives from Mesa Fire, PD, Arizona Museum of Natural History, Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities, Mesa Arts Center, Mesa Library, and Community Services.

This Recruitment Fair is a part of the kick-off to our annual day of service, Love Your City.  Love Your City brings hundreds of Mesa volunteers together in the spirit of service and collaboration in order to improve our community.

Visitors to the fair will also enjoy a volunteer craft, giveaways, raffles, volunteer resource bags, and more!

Deliver Little Library Book Care Packages
Love Your City Service Day

8:00AM - 11:00AM

As part of the City of Mesa's Love Your City service event, volunteers are needed to deliver boxes of books to residents who have Free Little Libraries installed on their properties.  These care packages include books of all types and handmade bookmarks.  Volunteers will be given a list of addresses to deliver boxes to.

Love Your City brings hundreds of Mesa volunteers together in the spirit of service and collaboration in order to improve our community.

Smoke Alarm Safety Walk

8:15AM - 12PM

Volunteers are needed to complete smoke alarm safety walks of homes surrounding Adams Elementary school on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 8:15am to 12pm.  Volunteers will be given a brief training session prior to the walk explaining how to install smoke alarms and educate residents on fire escape plans.

**Volunteers will be required to walk.  Closed toed shoes must be worn.  Must be 18 years or older to volunteer.

Arizona Museum of Natural History Volunteer Opportunities

The Arizona Museum of Natural History has a variety of on-going volunteer opportunities.  These include Gallery Interpreters, Exploration Station Facilitators, Courtyard Guides, and Mesa Grande Interpretive Guides.  There are tons of benefits to volunteering the AzMNH including:
