Registration for all student participants is on Sunday, October 17 at 8 AM in the morning. Whether you are a returning student or brand new to the VASS family, I just want to take this opportunity to welcome you back to the snow. It is going to be an awesome season and we are so excited to have you join us.
You will be able to find all sorts of incredible information on the website to help you discover what programming is going to be best for you and your family. We are excited to announce that all of our programs from past seasons have returned although we have limited our capacity to 15 students per program. If the program you are wanting is full, please either select something else, or place you name on the waitlist and drop-in options. We are committed to getting everyone that wants a chance on snow this year an opportunity.
We've created a quick introductory video that you can view by hitting the GREEN BUTTON above, giving you many of the details about the season. If you have more questions, visit the FAQ under the STUDENT tab on our website.
If you watch the video, you will know all about this but if you didn't watch, I want to make sure that everyone is aware of some new programs that are being launched this season. They are the Family Program and the Peer to Peer Program. Both have the same goal trying to get more students skiing and snowboarding with people that are important to them.
Family Program - there are two versions of the family program, one that is open to people with zero experience in skiing and snowboarding and a second which is open to people with previous experience skiing and snowboarding. What this is allowing us to do is invite a family member, parent or support worker to come and get some ski and snowboard lessons before the regular programming starts for students. Then, when programming starts, you will join the student's lesson; with the first three weeks as an observer and the last three weeks actively working to fully support the student. Once you are successful in registering the student for the program they want then you must go create your own profile and register for one of these spots. With only 30 available spots this year, this will fill up quickly so don't delay if this is something that interests you! The cost to participate as a support person is $153 ($53 for a CADS membership and $100 to cover instructors). All lift tickets and rentals are included if required however, you must provide your own helmet. More details can be found at www.vass.ca
Peer to Peer Program - this is going to be a pilot project for us to invite a student's friend or sibling to come and learn how to ski or snowboard at the same time that they are participating in their lessons. The goal is simple, to be safe, have fun and learn together. If the peer can also learn how to support the student it may be possible to have them skiing /riding independently. Peers will need to have a CADS membership ($53) and the program itself only costs $100. All all lift tickets and rentals are included if required however you must provide your own helmet.
More details can be found at www.vass.ca
BECOME an Instructor - as always we welcome all of our families and friends of students to take the opportunity to become certified CADS instructor. This would allow you to partake in a weekend training event and get you certified so that you could participate in the student's actual lesson and progression and make a big impact. For more information please visit the volunteer tab on the VASS website.
