OLLI at SOU NEWSFLASH

October 28, 2024

As a member-driven organization, volunteers are essential to OLLI at SOU. Our volunteers support us in a variety of ways: Council directors and officers, committee chairs and members, team leads, event and special project assistants, and countless other responsibilities.

Every volunteer deserves recognition, and OLLI at SOU is launching a new feature in the weekly Newsflash—VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT. This first spotlight is an interview with three long-time volunteers that have served OLLI at SOU in numerous roles: Anne Bellegia, Peggy Evans, and Margaret Pashko.

Watch our interview with these three on the OLLI at SOU YouTube Channel. Enjoy and be inspired by their comments.

Heartfelt Thanks to Volunteers

Are there any OLLI at SOU volunteers you would like to recognize for their hard work? Submit a Heartfelt thanks to an OLLI at SOU Volunteer and help us show our wonderful volunteers how much we appreciate them! If you'd like to recognize more than one person or group, you are welcome to submit as many heartfelt thanks as you wish.

Heartfelt thanks will be featured in a future Newsflash and on the OLLI at SOU Facebook page.

Cascade Housing Complex Demolition

The Cascade Housing Complex is the large group of abandoned student housing buildings that are adjacent to the Campbell Center. As a part of SOU Facilities Master Plan, the Cascade Housing Complex is scheduled to be demolished and replaced with a new senior living facility.

OLLI at SOU members should expect some disruptions and noise for the remainder of fall term while SOU teams continue the abatement work. The general demolition will begin in January 2025, at which point there will be more noticeable noise disruptions. We will continue providing updates as we receive them from the team heading this project. Please reach out to us at olli@sou.edu with any questions or concerns.
