What program do you volunteer for at the Carol Stream Park District?

Youth Soccer U8.

What made you get into volunteering?

Growing up I was very involved in sports with friends. I had developed a genuine interest and love for the game, and had some inspirational coaches along the way, that worked with individual players on the teams I was a part of. I really enjoyed the fact that the coaches I had growing up actually took the time and effort to work with everyone on the team and encourage them. With this experience I had growing up I wanted to show the same attention and encouragement to the players that I have on my teams.

Share a fun fact about yourself.

On my days off I love to explore farmers markets with my son and make home made pizza's.

What’s been your favorite volunteer memory?

Having former players and their parents stop me and show appreciation from past season's and thank me for the time that I had put in with their child and the team, and when parents tell you that you've had an impact on their child's experience playing. Watching each kid grow and excel in the sport that I used to play as child.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who has just started volunteering at the Park District?

Take your time and work with kids on your team. For some it may be new to, and with some patience and guidance you could really help develop a genuine love for the game.
