What program do you volunteer for at the Carol Stream Park District?
Boys 5th/6th grade winter and summer basketball.
What made you get into volunteering?
My son wanted to start playing basketball, and I wanted to spend some time with him doing an activity that I also loved. Then I really started to enjoy being able to work with kids on teamwork, and how they could achieve more working together than by themselves.
Share a fun fact about yourself.
I was born in Arizona, and have lived in a total of 6 states across the country, starting on the west coast, going to the Midwest, to the east coast, and now back to the Midwest.
What’s been your favorite volunteer memory?
How excited the kids were when we won a game on a last second shot. I could tell just how much it meant to them by seeing how happy they were.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who has just started volunteering at the Park District?
Go in with an open mind and try to have fun.
