You play an essential role in the work we do. Whether you are a donor, a volunteer, or both, you are making a long-term investment in the life of a Cambridge Public School student. Last year, over 550 volunteers engaged more than 1,500 students in one of CSV’s many school-based programs.

Our intergenerational corps of volunteers includes CRLS students serving as peer tutors, the Harvard women’s golf team, retired teachers and principals, and hundreds of other caring adults who live or work in Cambridge.

Our volunteers rise to the occasion, and so do our students. It’s not just our peer tutors who are giving back. In a story that quickly became lore at CSV, a student in Reading Buddies told his teacher that what he liked best about the program was “helping the elderly”—a description that amused his buddy very much.

If you’ve already donated to CSV this year, thank you! If you haven’t, please consider giving today so we can continue to help all students in the Cambridge Public Schools feel seen, supported, and successful.

Your support is invaluable, and we want to express our heartfelt thanks. Help us meet our $25,000 fundraising goal. Any donation, regardless of size, sustains us so we can serve every student who comes to CSV seeking academic support and a sense of belonging in our community.

Join CSV for a workshop to explore simple, practical ways volunteers can support elementary students in accessing CKLA, Cambridge’s literacy curriculum.

Ana Younis, Biliteracy Coach at the Amigos School in Cambridge, will start with a brief overview of what we’ve learned after our first year of CKLA implementation and then dive into concrete scaffolds that help diverse learners succeed in reading and writing. Volunteers will leave with ready-to-use strategies they can apply during their next session with students.

This workshop is open to all volunteers (preschool-12) but will be most relevant to elementary- and middle-school volunteers.

When: Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Where: Teachers’ Resource Center (TRC), Room 3501, Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS), 459 Broadway
