What is Eastern States Exposition?

Eastern States Exposition is a not-for-profit corporation committed to excellence in providing year-round opportunities for the development and promotion of agriculture, education, industry and family entertainment while preserving our New England heritage.

On the site of the Home Department, Helen Storrow had the Gilbert Farmhouse moved into place in 1927. Following the popularity of the Gilbert Farmhouse and early New England activities, all historic buildings were in place around the Village Green by 1930 and was coined Storrowton Village.

Storrowton Village Museum today runs multiple education programs and supports the greater mission of the Eastern States Exposition.

The Agriculture Department encompasses a number of events involving livestock from the farm to finished products including cheese and fiber arts.

Competitive events are a large part of the department both during The Big E fair and throughout the year.

Volunteering with

Storrowton Village

Looking for flexible volunteering hours where you get to travel back in time?Volunteer with Storrowton Village Museum during the Big E and get transported back in time to the 1840s.

Educate visitors on the history of the historic homes and what life would have been like. Practice vintage fashion and not vintage values while bringing the public on a time traveling tour.

Volunteering with

Creative Arts

The colorful crafts fairgoers see in the New England Center don't get hung overnight! Volunteers are needed leading up to the fair to help receive entries, prepare them for judging, and then arrange them in displays.

During the fair, volunteers welcome fairgoers into the building, help answer questions, and demonstrate their crafts.

After the fair, help is needed in taking entries down and distributing them back to our exhibitors.

With a variety of needs ranging from August through early October, there are flexibilities for everyone to help!
