Hello again! We have a volunteer day this Sunday 11-5pm and will BBQ burgers, chicken and veggies for volies who work that day. More volunteer news below.
Thank you volunteers!
The Pig Island food festival surprised us last weekend by donating 8 tickets to PortSide on short notice. Six of our volunteers made it to the festival, an $85 value. Keep your eyes peeled for PortSide volunteer newsletters for future offerings such as these.
Volunteer this Sun, 9/20, 11am-5pm - with BBQ!
Come help and enjoy late summer weather on the waterfront as we do some sanding and varnishing, clean interior spaces, grease and stow some vintage blocks, and rig some critter catchers over the side to prepare for school programs that want to learn about marine life.
BBQ afterwards with chicken, burgers and veggies for volunteers who worked that day. RSVP required so we have enough food! Please RSVP via email or call 917-414-0565.
Two upcoming events could use your help
Thurs 9/24, 7-11pm bluegrass concert that is a gift from
Paradise Mountain Boys, a band from Norway! This is short notice because their original gig in NYC was cancelled, and they are donating the concert to us! This is their NYC premier.
We could use some volunteers at the event, and you can also help by spreading word of the event!
Tues 10/27 fundraiser at Hometown Bar-B-Que where we had last year's October fundraiser.
We need a few hands at that event, people to post flyers before the event, and members of the fundraising committee to sell tickets and seek sponsors.
Info on our new home
If you haven't visited us in Atlantic Basin, here is info on our new location. Come visit; it is really great here! Our berth in Atlantic Basin is at the south end of the Pier 11 shed. Enter thru the pedestrian/bike gate at Conover and Pioneer Streets or the vehicle entrance at Bowne Street (the one for the cruise terminal).
Stay tuned for good news coming in next several newsletters!
