Today, civic participation occurs at many levels. We make impactful decisions about our community every time we make a purchase, vote, post on social media and, of course, volunteer. We think any awareness we can bring to the many resources that might spur individual action for good, falls right in line with what we’re up to at HandsOn.

Thanksgiving Thursday

Take the opportunity to express your gratitude for the good things in your life. Be thankful for your family, friends, food, health, and opportunities from the past year as you spend time with loved ones.

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Use your purchase power in choosing where to shop, and browse at companies that share your values.

Visit a local small business market at Roosevelt Row, Phoenix Flea, or Greenwood Brewing on Saturday, November 25!

Giving Tuesday

An annual movement to make community change through radical generosity. On Tuesday, November 28, volunteer with a community group, perform a random act of kindness, or donate to a local nonprofit that aligns with your values!

Volunteer for the Holidays!

Salvation Army- SA has a variety of offerings this holiday season including its annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Angel Tree program which helps to provide gifts to children across the Valley.

The Foster Alliance Holiday Joy Fest- The Foster Alliance (formerly Arizona Helping Hands) is hosting its annual Holiday Joy Fest at the Phoenix Campus, where foster families and advocates choose the perfect gifts to celebrate the children in their care. The Foster Alliance needs help collecting donations, sorting toys, decorating, and helping families find the perfect presents.

St. Mary’s Food Bank- Volunteers are needed to pack food boxes and distribute food during the busy holiday season.

St. Vincent de Paul – Serve meals throughout the holiday season, including on Thanksgiving and Christmas day

Fall into Service: Gardening with St. Vincent de Paul- Volunteer with HandsOn for our annual day of service on Saturday, December 2nd from 8:30 - 11:00 am, spend the morning planting, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing produce, removing trees, and more!

SOUP PARTY Fundraiser

Volunteers are needed to support the first annual Soup Party fundraiser that will benefit both Dig It, Grow It, Share It and Free Plant ‘N Garden Stands on Sunday, December 17th from 3:00- 5:30 pm. Garden lovers will come together for an enjoyable afternoon trying a variety of delicious soups and bread, exchanging seeds, and sharing their gardening stories. HandsOn History

HandsOn's former annual day of service was Salute to Service. Each fall volunteers assisted veterans in their homes, veteran-run businesses, or nonprofits dedicated to aiding men and women in the military. HandsOn now has the privilege to carry out projects assisting veterans all year round!

Salute to Service has now been replaced with Fall into Service. Sign up to volunteer at Fall into Service this year!
