Do Beautiful Things: Service Spotlight

Cleaning Up Cars and Beaches

Woodie's Wash Shack joined KPB last Friday to host a North Gandy Beach cleanup!

The staff and volunteers removed a whopping 700 pounds of litter from the beach. Great work!

Woodie's Wash Shack handed out free t-shirts, car fresheners, and a free car wash code to volunteers, along with complimentary Kona Ice to cool off!

Volunteers also got to vote if the inside or outside of their car was dirtier with our new cigarette butt receptacle. Our receptacles, cigarette butt displays, and informational signage are part of our collaboration with TBRPC and FDOT to reduce cigarette butt litter in Pinellas County!

We look forward to working with your team to clean up our community again soon.

Our interns also shared about the cleanup that DSW is hosting with KPB at North Gandy Beach on Saturday, August 30th, from 8:30 - 11:30 am. We hope you join us!

Back to School PAL Event

School is almost in session for Pinellas County students!

Last weekend, KPB attended Pinellas PAL's Back to School event to hand out school supplies to students. It was a great opportunity to introduce local kids and parents to KPB youth volunteering opportunities! Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, meet like-minded people, and earn volunteer hours.

We hope everyone has a great school year!

Be Floridian with Tampa Bay Estuary Program

In Florida, summer rains don’t water fertilizer in — they wash it off our lawns and into our lakes, bays and oceans. The excess nitrogen and phosphorus in the water feeds algae blooms that use up oxygen, kill fish and turn the water the color of pea soup. As more and more people move to the Tampa Bay area, the problem gets bigger and bigger.

So, help us make sure everyone knows to skip the fertilizer this summer. Together, we Floridians can protect our fun!
