Improving Lives Through Volunteerism

AMERICORPS SENIORS
SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM

The Senior Companion Volunteer Team is GROWING, and we want YOU to be on it and to spread the word!

Volunteers are visiting Seniors in Day Centers, Assisted Living Centers and in homes. Some clients that they are visiting are on hospice care, and others are in their 80’s and 90’s and need some assistance each day. It is a wonderful partnership of encouraging one another. If you are helping someone with day to day companionship, have had prior experience with helping, or know someone who would benefit from being a Senior Companion volunteer,

Please Apply Today.

Earn money while volunteering! Do you know of a loved one who could use some Senior Companionship? We are looking for volunteers that would love to use their skills, abilities, and personality to help others with your time and encouragement.
Senior Companion Programs connect volunteers
to seniors living independently.

The Senior Companion Program provides grants to organizations with a dual purpose: to engage persons 55 years and older, particularly those with limited incomes, in volunteer service to meet critical community needs; and to provide a high-quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers. The AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers in this program provide supportive, individualized services to help older adults with special needs maintain their dignity and independence.

Examples of Senior Companion Programs
  • Befriending older adults and assisting with daily living tasks at a supportive housing program
  • Providing supportive services such as transportation to appointments, assistance with grocery shopping, and cooking meals

AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers
  • VCI will recruit individuals for this program who are 55 years and older
  • Volunteers for this program serve as friends and companions to older neighbors, making sure they can live in their own homes for as long as possible.
  • Volunteers are eligible to receive a stipend for their volunteering if they meet income eligibility requirements.
