NM Farm and Livestock Bureau Members Visit

Local Classrooms

In May, NMAITC has had great outreach opportunities that included NMF&LB members within their own communities.

  • Chaves County Melinda Jackson shared a poem she wrote that reflected her passion for agriculture and how her and her husband John care for their livestock animals - 4th grade classes at Del Norte Elementary: 90 students

  • Curry County Bailey & Zane Slater, and Billy VanHuss explained to the students the importance of ranching and what tasks they do on an everyday basis - everyday there is something new to do - 1st grade classes at Zia Elementary: 84 students

  • Roosevelt County - Deveri and Avalon Mathews shared their experience owning and operating a dairy - 1st-2nd grade classes at James Elementary: 63 students

The impact and memories that were made with elementary students by these presenters will live on as the reason they now know about AGRICULTURE and they can say they met a farmer/rancher in their community. Way to go!

"I believe the presentation provided valuable information to help students understand the important role agriculture plays in our daily lives. The "5 F's of Ag" was interactive and allowed students to share their prior knowledge. Thank you!"
