EAC Network seeks 12-16 Event and 12-16 Ropes Volunteers.

All volunteers get a FREE rappel, lunch, and a swag bag!

ABOUT THE OVER THE EDGE EVENT

Over the Edge for EAC Network will see up to 92 individuals rappel 170 feet down the Tower at Nassau Community College on July 1, 2017.  Each rappeler (aka “Edger”) is raising funds in support of our mission.  Among the fearless include Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, NY Islanders legend, Bob Nystrom, President & CEO of Zorn’s of Bethpage, Merrill Zorn, Joe Rock from WBAB, Syke & MJ from WBLI, Chabad Mineola’s Rabbi Perl, and more.


Volunteers are needed to help run the event from both logistical and technical perspectives. There are a few different ways to volunteer, with different perks for each.  Either type of volunteering can be counted as volunteer/community service hours for students. 


EVENT VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION - Preferred ages: 16+

12-16 volunteers needed from 8am-5pm on July 1st for the full day or in one of two shifts: 8am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-5pm.  Students can receive community service credits.  The free rappel will be scheduled on July 1st. 

Duties include helping at:

  • Registration
  • Staging Area 
  • Escorting Edgers
  • Landing Zone
  • Roof Security 
  • Roof Radio 
  • Potential Announcer 
  • Floater(s)

ROPES VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION - Preferred ages: 17+

Ropes experience preferred, but not required.

12-16 volunteers are needed during the following times. Free rappel will be scheduled on June 30th.

  • Must watch a 30-minute online presentation on a Monday evening
  • Approximately 3 hours of on-site training from 4pm-7pm on June 30th, VIP/Media Day
  • Up to 10 hours (all day) on July 1st, Event Day

  Duties include:

  • Assisting with harnesses and other gear
  • Loading participants onto ropes
  • Providing ground belay
  • Unclipping participants from ropes

**Ropes Volunteers must be able to work on their feet, be able to work as a team, and take directions well.**
