In total, 100 volunteers came out and removed 1,560 pounds of trash from the Parkway.
Volunteers collected everyday trash items, including cigarette butts, beverage cans, food containers, and tires. Among the more unusual things found was a butane tank with a factory plate dated in 1942.
The River Parkway Trust's cleanup activities took place in collaboration with the statewide Great Sierra River Cleanup to clean Sierra waterways. More than 700 volunteers helped remove 3.4 tons of trash at cleanup events held throughout the Sierra Nevada region.
