Friendly Harbor Community Center

Friendly Harbor Community Center promotes wellness and recovery from mental health

and substance issues by providing a safe environment and connecting people

to healthy relationships and organizations through Peer Support.

Upcoming Event!

Our last barbeque party of the season and Volunteer Recognition Open House has moved one week!

Sept. 28th, 12 pm - 2 pm

Join us with friends and neighbors for an afternoon of good food, games and more. As always, our barbeques are free and open to the public.

We wish we could name every volunteer that left their mark on the Harbor this year. In a true spirit of giving without expectation, some would like to be kept anonymous or are unnamed, in the daily small acts that keep the Harbor looking and feeling like a home.

We do want to take this part of the Newsletter to name a few of our dedicated volunteers (on the right), who put in many hours and are pivotal to our success as an organization. Thank you all so much!

It is also important to note and celebrate that our board is all volunteer and thanks to their dedication and steering, we at the Harbor are looking forward to years of strong leadership, connection and guidance from some truly strong pillars of the community.

Not all folks can offer in-person help, some help tremendously through charitable donations! No matter the amount, we appreciate and put every dollar to good use. If you'd like to join our list of helpers, consider donating to the Harbor.

Desiree Adams joined the Harbor in February 2024 after volunteering for nearly a year.

Desiree has traveled well across the country but has come to settle recently in Pueblo. She likes that Pueblo has lots of things to see and activities throughout the year to attend. Desiree started her Peer support journey in early 2024 and finds she has a heart for people who want to recover. Desiree says that to her, Recovery is a process defined my actively participating in working on yourself. She wants her Participants to know, “This too shall pass.” Outside of Peer work, Desiree is passionate about making CBD products.

Grief

Tuesdays at 4pm

Grief and loss can be deeply lonely, confusing and complex emotions. At the Harbor we recognize that grief is a process with no timeline and little structure. However you’re experiencing your grief and loss, here healing and understanding await those coping, those left behind, and those unsure how to keep going. Share your journey and find comfort among peers navigating similar experiences.

In The Community

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Pueblo County hosted a Suicide Memory Walk earlier this month. They are our friends in this work bringing the importance of mental health to the forefront. We honor the loved ones we've lost to suicide together and recognize the power of suicide prevention.

Friendly Harbor is the go-to place in Southern Colorado for mental wellness and recovery support. We are a peer-run organization that connects community members who are experiencing mental health and substance use issues with the information, emotional support, and the referrals they need to live full, satisfying lives.
