In addition, Los Angeles County is hosting a household hazardous waste collection day at the Mission Playhouse parking lot this Saturday, March 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Items - such as motor oil, paint, televisions or batteries - will be accepted.

Now, here's what's making news for the week of March 6, 2019:
City Council authorizes the use CDBG
funds for youth program equipment 
In a 4-0 vote with Councilmember Menchaca absent from the vote, the City Council approved the use of Community Development Block Grant funds to help purchase equipment for the All-City Pentathlon and the City’s youth summer program. CDBG funds are used to benefit low to moderate income areas of the community and are administered by the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission.

Community Services offering spring break camps
Looking for something fun for your child to do during Spring Break? Community Services is offering a variety of camps, including a day camp, a LEGO specialty camp and a food camp from April 1 to April 5.

City holds older adult St. Patrick's Day celebration
Community Services is inviting older adults to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Friday, March 15. Enjoy a delicious lunch with some old friends or make some new ones. Participants will enjoy festive St. Patrick's Day music and green mocktails.

Lunch is served daily at the Adult Recreation Center to anyone 60 years of age or older with a suggested donation of $3 per meal.
Disney double feature on March 24 at the Playhouse
On March 24, the Playhouse will be screening two Disney classics. Experience "Mulan" at 1:00 p.m. followed by "Cars" at 3:00 p.m. Purchase a ticket at the Playhouse Box Office to one film for $7 or see both films for $10.

The Box Office is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
San Gabriel Women's Foundation annual soup
and salad luncheon March 21
Come to the San Gabriel Women's Foundation for their 29th Annual Soup & Salad Luncheon on March 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Padillo Room located at 324 South Mission Drive. Enjoy soups from Luna's and San Marino Seafood and salads from Autunno's, the Hilton Los Angeles/San Gabriel and Green Street Dessert.
