Good News Church Family & Friends,

As this email goes out on Election Day, it's a reminder to all of us who are eligible to take on one of our most important civic duties and to vote. If you're reading this after the fact, this is also a reminder from scripture (Romans 13:1-2, Titus 3:1-2, 1 Peter 2:13-17) to submit to and respect those in authority over us. We need not rejoice greatly or despair hopelessly in election results, because we ourselves, and all authorities on earth, are under one ultimate authority who rules and is sovereign over all things, Almighty God. So, whichever way the elections go, you can relax. God is in control. :)

This past Sunday, I preached on Romans 7, "Trick or Treat." It was brought to my attention that my illustration on how to kill a wolf is actually not true. So, if you ever come face to face with a wolf, don't do what my sermon illustration said to do. And, DON'T run, play dead, or cry, "Wolf!" That'll make it worse! Instead, Google said you should:

  1. Stand your ground (even if you feel like you're going to pee your pants)
  2. Make yourself look BIG (wave your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don't care)
  3. Make a lot of noise (bark like a Georgia Bulldog, even if you're a Florida Gator)
  4. Throw stuff at it (ideally, bullets from a gun)
  5. Back away slowly (now you can pee your pants)

Sermon Series on Romans

This past Sunday (11/1), Drue preached on Romans 7 "Trick or Treat." To access the sermon audio, notes, and slides, click here. If you missed any of the previous messages in Romans, we'd encourage you to catch up and keep up from week to week in this series. Romans is a life-changing book worth prioritizing in your daily / weekly schedule.

We're encouraging everyone to read ahead each Sunday because it will be helpful to be somewhat familiar with the text before the sermon message. So, for this Sunday, November 8, your pre-Sunday reading is Romans 8.

The vision of Good News Church GA is "to experience and express LOVE from God to others" The verse that undergirds our vision is Galatians 5:6b, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."

The mission of Good News Church GA is "to connect with people and build relationships through community workshops, neighborhood-focused ministry, serving local needs, mentoring, and worship."

We value people, community, relationships, prayer, and Bible reading. We also value being able to be yourself. We’re all struggling with something, so there’s no need to pretend that we have it all together.
