A voluntary, county-wide collaboration focused on improving health,
health equity, and health care for Washtenaw's low-income, uninsured,
underinsured, and underrepresented populations.

For a second year, the WHI will honor collaborations with a significant, positive impact on community health. In our community, there are various organizations working towards similar goals. However, collaboratives can break down silos and allow individuals to achieve more together. Take a look at our nominees and cast your vote by Wednesday, November 30th!

The WHI hopes to make a positive impact by informing Washtenaw County residents about how voting affects their health, and the health of their community. In preparation for this year's midterm election, the WHI is pleased to present our new Vote for Health toolkit. The toolkit includes educational resources about the connection between health and voting and tools to help voters cast their ballot on November 8th.

This year's summit drew 141 participants from 60 different organizations. The event aimed to address the range of subjects critical in fighting the harms associated with opioid and other substance use, including the intersection of social determinants of health and person-centered approaches to recovery.

The WHI sees two leadership transitions as current steering committee members change roles. After 11 years of service, guiding the WHI from its inception, long-time WHI co-chair Doug Strong will step down. Dr. Brent Williams will replace Strong as co-chair, while Alfreda Rooks will move into the role of secretary.
