"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

—Nelson Mandela

From federal courtrooms to grand juries and debate stages, the 2024 election cycle is underway. That’s a weird sentence to write, but here we are, and now we need to talk about the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. This plan would dismantle decades of progress in education, civil rights, and workforce protections, potentially reshaping American society in ways that would sharply increase inequality and limit opportunities for millions. Project 2025 stands in stark contrast to the current administration's education and workforce policies. Setser Group’s vision for the future of learning and work aligns with several key initiatives from President Biden's administration while standing in sharp opposition to the dangerous and outrageous proposals in Project 2025.

Paving the Way Forward: Key Education Policies We Support

President Biden's education and workforce initiatives grow from a tree rooted in inclusivity and nurtured by a vision of equitable progress. These policies bear fruit that aims to nourish all members of our society, regardless of their background, fostering an ecosystem of opportunity and shared growth.

Initiative Overview

Setser Group Alignment

Educational Equity - Policies aimed at ensuring all students, regardless of background, have access to high-quality education.

Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are all part of our core values. No project moves forward without addressing DEIB. Addressing disparities in funding and resources between schools is crucial for creating equitable futures in education.

Community Schools - A model that integrates wraparound services like health care and nutrition assistance into schools to support the whole child.

This holistic approach to education, integrating wraparound services, strongly aligns with our human-centric approach and emphasis on empathy in leadership.

Mental Health Support - Enhanced resources in schools to address students' emotional and psychological well-being.

This initiative recognizes the importance of student well-being, aligning with our focus on empathetic leadership and creating inclusive environments.

High-Dosage Tutoring and Extended Learning Time - Intensive, targeted tutoring programs and increased instructional time to help students catch up and excel academically.

These initiatives align with our emphasis on continuous learning and growth and on leveraging technology for equitable futures.

Combating School Segregation -

Initiatives to address racial and economic segregation in schools, including funding for magnet schools and promoting diversity.

This directly addresses issues of diversity and inclusion, core principles of Setser Group.

Affordable College and Community College Access - Efforts to make higher education more accessible and affordable, including proposals for free community college.

These initiatives align with our focus on creating equitable futures and leveraging technology for accessibility.

Support for Educators - Advocacy for higher salaries, professional development, and additional resources for teachers and education professionals.

This aligns with our emphasis on empathetic leadership and valuing human insight and creativity.

Turning Back the Clock: Project 2025's Regressive Education Agenda

The initiatives outlined in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 are fundamentally flawed because they stem from a poisoned tree of ideology. Like fruit from a contaminated source, these proposals carry the toxic elements of their origin. Here's a short list of Project 2025's mind-numbing proposals and our responses.

Initiative Overview

Setser Group's Response

Reclassifying Federal Employees As At-Will Workers - This policy would make it easier to fire federal employees, particularly those involved in policymaking.

This undermines job security and will lead to a loss of expertise in government. It goes against our emphasis on valuing human insight and creativity and could result in a less diverse and less experienced workforce.

Mass Deportations And Strict Immigration Policies - These policies will severely impact the workforce, particularly in sectors like technology, agriculture, construction, and service industries.

This will obviously disrupt families for generations and will impact children in our schools. It is also damaging to the economy and contradictory to the principles of equity and belonging. It will lead to labor shortages and a less diverse, less innovative workforce.

Dismantling Environmental Regulations - While presented as pro-business, this approach will harm long-term workforce development in sustainable industries.

Setser Group emphasizes future-oriented thinking. This policy is short-sighted and detrimental to preparing the workforce for future challenges and opportunities in green technologies and sustainable practices.

Weakening Labor Unions And Worker Protections - Project 2025 aims to reduce the power of labor unions and roll back worker protections.

This conflicts with our people-first approach and could lead to worse working conditions, lower wages, and less job security for many workers.

Privatizing Healthcare Options And Reducing Government Healthcare Programs - This will result in more workers without adequate health coverage, potentially impacting workforce productivity and mobility.

Setser Group, with our focus on holistic well-being, equitable futures, and Blue Zone living, sees this as a step backward in creating a healthy, productive workforce.

Eliminating Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Programs - Project 2025 aims to remove DEI initiatives from federal agencies and educational institutions.

This directly contradicts our commitment to fostering diverse, inclusive environments. We oppose it because it will decrease representation and opportunities for marginalized groups, hindering innovation and creativity in the workforce and educational settings.

Restricting Critical Race Theory And Gender Studies In Education - This initiative seeks to limit or eliminate the teaching of these subjects in schools and universities.

We oppose this because it restricts academic freedom and limits students' exposure to important social and cultural issues. This approach goes against our belief in comprehensive, inclusive education that prepares students for a diverse, global society and workforce.
