How to Use Your Standby Generator Safely

If you own a standby generator, do not use it without a properly installed transfer switch.

During an outage, electricity from your generator could back-feed power lines, creating a dangerous situation for our linemen while they're working to repair lines.

A transfer switch can prevent this from occurring. We offer GenerLink transfer switches to customers for $11 per month.

Get Ready for Winter Weather

Here are a few tips to maximize your home's energy savings this winter:

  • Turn the heat down a few degrees when you're away.
  • Make sure you have at least 6 inches of insulation in your attic.
  • Service your heating system annually.

Find additional tips on our website.

Know What to Do During a Power Outage

If your power goes out, there are a few things you can do to stay more comfortable and help us restore power safely and quickly.

  1. Call us at (503) 397-1844 to report the outage.
  2. Turn on a front porch light to let our crews know when power is restored.
  3. Turn on a lamp inside your home so you will know.
  4. If you have access to a generator, please use it safely.

Deposit Waiver Available to Veterans

Our Salute to Service Waiver is available to active US military personnel and US military veterans.

To show our gratitude for their service, we are waiving the security deposit for new residential accounts for these individuals.

To request this waiver or learn more about it, please call us at (503) 397-0590.

Be Prepared with an Emergency Kit

Prepare your family for an emergency or extended power outage by assembling a Home Emergency Kit.

Here are some suggestions for items to include in your kit.

You might also consider keeping a smaller kit in your family's vehicles.
