wasteWaste Cart Handling Service from Recology

Did you know Recology San Mateo County's Special Handling Collection Service provides a free service to residents who are physically unable to set their carts curbside or roadside for collection? Customers that need the assistance, and who do not have someone else in the household who can set carts out for service, are asked to provide a letter of verification from a physician, a copy of their DMV drivers license with a handicap status, or a copy of the DMV handicap placard paperwork. Free "Get Ready" Class

Disaster response professionals emphasize the critical importance of being prepared to survive in your home for 5-7 days following a disaster. This Get Ready class, offered by the Central County Fire Department (CCFD), will help you plan for an emergency with a family plan, evacuation checklist, and strategies to keep your family safe.  CCFD offers this course to teach you what to do before, during and after a disaster.

If you do nothing else this year to get prepared, we hope you will take the "Get Ready" course. You can register for the class here. It's free for all Burlingame residents. Why not invite a friend to take the class with you?
"Arthur Szyk: Soldier in Art"

The library is hosting Irvin Ungar next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. He will be speaking about his latest book, "Arthur Szyk: Soldier in Art". Szyk was a Polish Jewish World War II artist whose messages of fighting racism, intolerance, and bigotry during WWII are as relevant today as they were then.

Are you having trouble controlling the way you eat? Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous, "FA", is a twelve step recovery program for people who suffer from food obsession, overeating, bulimia and under-eating. Everyone is welcome at meetings, including those who think they may have a food problem or those who are concerned about someone who may.
