Dear Friends,

Welcome back to our series of considering what it means to vote our biblical values. Last week we spent time delving into what the bible says about life and what it looks like to vote for life at the polls.

I know that for many, the personality of a candidate often turns us off from wanting to vote in their favor; however, our goal in this series is to be reminded of the values we must vote for despite having poor personality choices on the ballot. The fact remains that this country and this state will have leaders whether we like them or not. Our responsibility as believers, is to make sure that our vote is in favor of whomever will be more likely to protect our biblical values rather than the one who would disregard them completely.

Today, we will explore a theme close to many of our hearts: the value of family as presented in the Bible. Scripture offers profound insights into the significance of family relationships and God’s design for us to thrive within them.

Divine Design of Family

From the very beginning, God established the family unit. In Genesis 2:24, we read, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” This verse highlights the sacredness of marriage and the family, showing that God intended families to be a foundation for companionship, love, and growth.

Teaching and Guidance

The Bible emphasizes the importance of teaching within the family. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 states, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” This directive illustrates the responsibility of parents to instill values and faith in their children, fostering spiritual growth and moral grounding.

Family as a Reflection of God’s Love

In 1 John 4:19, we read, “We love because he first loved us.” Families provide a unique opportunity to experience and express love, mirroring the relationship between God and His people. Through our interactions with family members, we can learn to embody grace, forgiveness, and acceptance—qualities that reflect God’s love in our lives.

Intergenerational Connections

The Bible also values the wisdom and guidance that comes from intergenerational relationships. Proverbs 16:31 tells us, “Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.” Older family members can share their experiences and wisdom, enriching the lives of younger generations. This connection strengthens family ties and helps cultivate a legacy of faith and values.

Voting for Family

The Bible paints a beautiful picture of family, emphasizing its value as a source of love, support, and spiritual growth. As we reflect on these biblical truths, let’s commit to nurturing our family relationships, fostering love, patience, and understanding. In doing so, we honor God’s design for family and create a space where each member can thrive.

It is imperative that we vote for our family when we vote for a candidate. The reality today is that policymakers and leaders are actively threatening parents’ rights to teach and guide their children; and they mock God’s design for the family.

A candidate that is pushing policies and agendas that promote more government control over the family unit is not a candidate that will protect your freedom to raise your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Instead, they will put schools, teachers, and government workers in charge of your children and look at you, the parent, as a threat if you do not accept and affirm their woke ideology.

We must protect our families. We must choose the candidate that will be more likely to recognize God’s design of the family, protect parents’ rights to teach and guide their children, and create an environment that sees the family thrive.

When families thrive, as God intended, states and nations thrive. Will you stand firm with me and vote your biblical values at the polls?
