October 2024 - 2nd Edition
Vote early starting on Oct. 17
"Bank your vote" early to ensure NOTHING gets in the way of you being able to cast your ballot for the Republican/conservative candidates. President Trump, the RNC and everyone recommends this - and we do, too!
If you vote on the first day, October 17, you're invited to attend a celebration at the GOP Headquarters at 6:00 p.m. We'll have pizza, drinks and snacks.
News about voting in Western North Carolina areas affected by the hurricane:
The State Board has adopted a resolution to help the 13 counties most affected by Tropical Storm Helene. They include Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, Watauga and Yancey. If you know someone who lives in these counties, make sure they see this article which explains the new rules that will make it easier for them to vote:

Mark Robinson on the ground in WNC
Where was Governor Roy Cooper, who waited and waited to send help to the suffering victims of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina? Where was Josh Stein when the power outages and flooding devastated the region? Answer: Safe and sound in Raleigh or fundraising in New York.
Where was Lt. Governor Mark Robinson? He was there the very next day in Asheville and all the small towns that were destroyed. He was there with convoys of supplies and as much help as he could bring.
He stopped off briefly in Moore County on October 4 and talked with us about how the only campaign he's concerned about is the campaign to help people in desperate need. We've seen many Facebook posts from people who say Robinson was the only government official they've talked to - and they are grateful for his presence and supplies.
That's what leadership is all about. Remember that when you vote.

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to George Little, a giant of a man who played a major role in Moore County politics, education and the community. The husband of MRW's own Wanda Little, George was instrumental in shaping our Republican Party into what it is today. Read his bio here for a picture of the kind of dedicated leader he was his entire life.
MRW has donated $250 to SCC in honor of George and his devotion to the college. Our prayers are with Wanda and all his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
Arrangements:
- Viewing Wednesday, October 16, 5-7 p.m. Boles Funeral Home, Southern Pines.
- Funeral service: Thursday, October 17, 11 a.m., Sandhills Community College

Synopsis of October luncheon
The astounding news about the luncheon: On very short notice, our members generously donated $5,545 to Samaritan's Purse for hurricane relief!
Tom McInnis, candidate for NC State Senate. Tom gave us an update on what's being done to help the folks in Western North Carolina, and what's being discussed to ensure they can vote. He also pointed out how important it is for Republicans throughout the rest of the state to make up for the inevitable loss of GOP votes.
Luke Farley, candidate for NC Labor Commissioner. Polling shows a tight race, but his opponent is in favor of defunding the police. Luke stressed how important it is to encourage people to vote the ENTIRE ballot, not just for President.
Tom Murry, candidate for NC Court of Appeals. A few years ago, Democrats took party affiliation off the ballot for the judicial candidates, because they kept losing! So be sure to tell everyone you know who the conservative judges are. Even if the voters are not necessarily Republicans, most people want judges who uphold the Constitution.
Caroline Kelly, founder of Moore County's "Moms for Liberty" Chapter. She talked about how this organization is fighting against Biden's executive order changing Title IX to include transgender men. If you have children at Cameron Elementary, Carthage Elementary, Elise Middle, Pinkney Alternative, McDeeds Creek Elementary or Robbins Elementary, exempt your school by visiting the website above, joining M4L, navigating to the Parent Tab and looking for Title IX.
Attendees proudly displayed the 5,550 "Write Now" letters completed by members and the Men's Club. These letters will be sent to North Carolina Christians who typically do not vote, encouraging them to vote in this crucial election. Quite an effort - let's pray it's successful!
In addition to the generous donations to Samaritan's Purse, we collected six large bags of snacks for the US Army Reserve Armory on Morganton Road. The Unit was up in the mountains conducting Rescue and Recovery operations. Sgt. Melvin said he has gone to every hurricane since 2002 and has never seen anything like the destruction. He thanked us for the snacks, which will be enjoyed when the unit returns.
MRW Sock Hop postponed
