Over the past two weeks, our Métis government has been focused on bringing people together, lifting up Citizen voices, and creating real opportunities for connection, growth, and change.
From the success of our Métis Works Business Mixer, with over 370 attendees registered and 50 trade show participants, to the powerful conversations at our Promoting & Increasing Cultural Safety Leadership Conference, we’re continuing to build a stronger, more inclusive Métis Nation.
We’re also making our voices heard nationally. As we approach the federal election, I’ve written to all major party leaders to push for real commitments on Métis self-government, a modern-day treaty, and meaningful recognition of our rights.
This moment is about action — economic, social, and political. I hope you’ll take a moment to read more about the important work happening across our Nation.

Citizen's Spotlight: Celebrating KD (Keith) King
The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is proud to recognize KD (Keith) King [he/they] for his outstanding contributions to Métis health advocacy and Two-Spirit inclusion. KD was born in Peace River, Alberta, and is Métis on his mother’s side. He has kinship ties to the Tegart, Brazeau, Descheneau(x), Brabant, Courchene, Lucier, and Beauchamp family names and ties to St. Albert, North Battleford, the Qu’Appelle Valley, and back to the Red River Settlement.
As a dedicated researcher and leader, KD has worked tirelessly to ensure Métis voices are heard in healthcare policy and decision-making. During the COVID-19 pandemic, KD played a crucial role in providing culturally relevant health information to Métis Citizens, ensuring communities stayed informed and safe. Beyond their pandemic efforts, KD’s research has brought to light the unique healthcare needs of Métis people, advocating for equitable access and improved health services.
A proud Two-Spirit Métis Citizen, KD has been a national voice for inclusion, elevating Two-Spirit experiences and promoting safer, more inclusive spaces. Through mentorship and advocacy, KD continues to inspire and empower others.
We thank KD for their unwavering dedication and celebrate their lasting impact on our communities.
