Taansi, and happy New Year to all our Citizens across Alberta.
I want to start off 2026 by wishing you and your families a year filled with health, connection, and pride in who we are as Métis people.
One of our goals this year is simple, but important: to tell more Métis stories.
During Métis Week, we were reminded how deeply our stories matter. Not just the big moments in history, but the everyday stories shared in kitchens, community halls, on traplines, and around family tables. Stories of resilience, humour, hard work, and belonging.
Our stories are nation-building. They connect generations, honour our ancestors who fought for our rights, and remind the world that Métis history is living and growing.
In 2026, you’ll see us sharing more of these stories, and I invite you to be part of it. Your story matters, and it deserves to be told.
Marsii, and I look forward to all we will accomplish together in 2026.
