Sustainability Tip Of The Week
Gardening this summer?
Here are some tips to keep your garden pest-free without using pesticides!
- Put the right plant in the right place. Make sure you choose the right plants for your growing conditions. Click here to find the growing zone in your area!
- Choose pest-repellent plants to reduce pests in your garden.
- Create a diverse garden habitat. Plant more than one kind of plant in your garden to ensure that there is a balanced natural ecosystem.
- Attract natural predators such as birds and beneficial insects.
- Add compost to your soil to improve the quality and health of the soil, which ensures that plants grow healthy and strong.
- Prevent infestations by regularly washing your gardening tools, removing weeds before they go to seed, and properly disposing of all diseased or insect-infected plant litter.
- Add mulch to your garden. Mulch provides a layer of protection against insects and weeds, and it also keeps the soil moist and cool in the summer.
