Louis Riel Walk

It was a cold November day when Louis Riel was executed for the crimes of high treason.

He fought for the rights of the Métis people and paid the ultimate price for his efforts.

We honour his legacy every year during Métis Week, and we start this week off by walking the 6 km his family and loved ones walked to bring his body to Saint Boniface Cathedral in Manitoba.

Join us November 10, at 9:30 a.m. for the Louis Riel Commemorative Walk to honour the courage and sacrifices of Louis Riel and his soldiers.

Seniors Tea

Our elders and Knowledge Keepers are the backbone of our community. They keep our stories and traditions alive. We would like to honour them by hosting our annual Seniors Tea during our Métis Week Celebrations.

If you are Métis aged 65 or more, join us November 12, at 11 a.m. at the Chateau Louis.

Louis Riel Commemoration

On November 16, 1885, Louis Riel was executed for standing up for our rights as Métis people. Every year we host Métis week to commemorate and honour his legacy.

Join us as we gather together at the Alberta Legislature on November 16 to remember Louis Riel and the profound impact he had on Métis culture.

Make your way to the Louis Riel Commemoration. A bus will be available at the Edmonton Inn, departing at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Program to start at 10:30 a.m.

Delia Gray Gala

Delia Gray was the first provincial elder for the Métis nation of Alberta (MNA) and was often referred to as the Matriarch of the MNA.

During Métis Week we honour her as we gather for the Delia Gray Gala on November 16 at the Edmonton Expo Centre.

Revealing Riel Private Ceremony

Friday, November 15

 9 – 10:30 a.m.

The Métis community is invited to attend an opening ceremony and exhibition viewing. This portion of the day is closed to the general public.

The Revealing Riel exhibition is on loan from the University of Calgary Archives and Special Collections and presented by the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.

The Riel Revealing Confluence is pleased to provide free admission and space for this important exhibition.
